I want you to know that even though it's your JOB, you really did make a difference to me. You have a gift and you have been faithful to let God use it. That is a terrific thing.
And even now, your encouragement means a lot to me. Whenever I see you've commented on my blog, I'm like, "YES!! SCORE! HIGH FIVES!" I take compliments from you very seriously.
You told me I wasn't crazy, wrong, or bad for grieving. I know that's pretty elementary, but apparently I needed a person of some authority to tell me that.
You have to understand that the group-think of the church I was raised in was that "you'll be happy about it!" was the 11th commandment. I mean, "Rejoice in the Lord Always" meant if you weren't always, always, always happy, then you somehow weren't right with God.
You told me that I had a lot to grieve and that I SHOULD be sad. I desperately needed to hear that. You helped me see that sadness is normal and nothing to panic about. This, too, shall pass. I just needed to hear that.
I think your true gift is the ability to calm and reassure people, and give hope. I am not sure that it is always from what you say, either--it might just have to do with the way God made you!
